I have no website. Does this imply intellectual incompetence? And what happened to my thoughtful, submitted comment?

If you are interested in "humane" why is your cyber-procedure dehumamizing?

Have just discovered this project. Interestingly, I've been working on this sort of thing for the last 20+ years. Somewhat related to the work of Carl Jung and Abe Maslow, have come up with a pragmatic, experiential analytical model, called the B-Matrix, which identifies four trans-cultural, universal core needs -- the need to give and receive life energy, the need for social idenity and approval, the need for body maintenance, and the need for what I call cosmic grounding. Interestingly too, the core needs reappear under quaternities related to human motivation, modes of interaction, and the dynamics of social institutions (in re Parsons' AGIL).
My Ph.D. is in sociology. I'm the author of The Fire and the Rose: Human Core Needs and Personal Transformation (HarperCollins, 1996.)

How might I collaborate?

World Peace one person at a time, It's a bit far fetched, yet I think with effort ,We as a people can accomplish this.
Basic needs of food and shelter are a must for every person on this planet We as a race are going in to extinction
by our own hand. It's time to put a stop to the greed and distruction that is our planitary out look, Time to think Planitery not monitary. What this Earth offers , We can not duplicate any where in the Universe as we know it.
Be a kinder more tender planet dweller, Hug a neigbour not a tree, then plant one togther. Feed a hungry soul, feed your own, trust in the plan of salvation and become a greater moving cog in the wheel of things. Write that long awaited letter to a goverment offical. Call a friend, call a stranger. Put your shoulder to the wheel and work it for what its worth the effort.

The planet is the smallest place to start if your heart is the biggest contributer.

Red, I thought about summarizing the emotional needs into one statement but I decided against it for one main reason. I am trying to identify a comprehensive set of fundamental human needs that when combined can be used to understand or explain a particular resultant behavior according to the situation.

For instance, if I want to explain/understand the concept of 'jealousy' in a particular case, I might recognize that it is the resultant of combination of needs such as: 44) The need to covet 36) The need to be angry + 24) The need to be the recipient of an expression of love admiration or affection + xx) whatever other relevant predominant needs apply to the individual situation depending on it's unique circumstances.

Perhaps in this case, 34) The need to laugh, is not as important in contributing to this expression of jealously. Therefore, I find it more flexible and descriptive to break down the emotional needs into their most primary general terms.

For me to start to combine emotional needs in a more general category would be like deciding to just list less gases on the periodic table of elements or just getting rid of a few like 'argon', 'nitrogen' or 'helium' and let them just be described as 'air'.

Peace,
SB

maybe there are too many "emotional" needs.
you may resume theese:
34) The need to laugh
35) The need to cry
36) The need to be angry
37) The need to be happy

into
34) The need to feel and express (or hide) my emotions, according to the situation.

This all sounds rather interesting, and I'm heartened by the explicit intent.

But... Your "theory" is a stated as a hypothesis (...IF...THEN...).

Nature has provided each of us with a squeeky enough wheel to get our basic needs met, particularly those of us with access to the internet.

When it comes to less basic and obvious needs, it seems that it is incumbent on each one of us to find that out for ourselves because the bidder and the provider are one.

When those more subtle desires (and I say desires because if you are hook up to the internet you probably have food, clothing, shelter, and are looking for connection, and esteem gratification which I consider more in the realm of desires which make the world go around in an interesting way) are known and met, then we can enter the world with a sense of presence which allows us the compassion. The kind of compassion which is excerised willingly with out resentment or martyrdom.

This is why I find the periodic table of your proposal (sounds more like a marketing analysis) interesting, humans due interact and satisfy needs. Compassion and love are interesting concepts. How people fit together like (the long out dated) periodic table of elements could be interesting to see.

Good luck with that...

See you tonight.

I am all about collaborating in order to create something brand new or at least refreshing. I anticipate this chance meeting to bring future development. When you're back in southeast NC, let me know. Until then, lets build.
